Cat Burglar Caught on Camera is Actual Cat!

Finding out that your home is not entirely safe can be extremely stressful. Especially if you’re out of town! One New Zealand family found out that a cat burglar is absolutely no fun…

Auckland resident Mark Spooner had entrusted his friend to take care of the family fish while they were out of town. After a few days, the fish-sitter realized that they had an incredibly strange problem on their hands.

Much like the Scottish Railways had an animal blocking their commute, this fish-sitter had a thief blocking their fish from eating!

Nothing is Safe with This Cat Burglar Around!

Spooner told the New Zealand Herald, “Our friend was confused because she would leave the container of fish flakes on the bench at night and in the morning it would be gone.”

After searching in the cupboards the close friend was able to find more food. But then the burglar struck again!

“She found more fish food in the cupboard but the same thing happened again — we had no idea what was going on,” Spooner said.

Coming Home to Trouble

Once the Spooner family returned home, they couldn’t get comfortable. That’s when they heard a loud noise in the middle of the night! It was coming from the kitchen…

“We actually thought there was someone in the house and looked around everywhere,” Spooner went on. “…we went into the kitchen and the fish food was gone.”

They decided to take action against the fish food culprit. They family set up a security camera in their home to catch the thief red-handed.

Cat Burglar Caught in the Act!

“We heard another noise early hours of the morning and went and checked the footage and there it was…” Spooner said. “…a video of this lovely looking white fluffy cat on the bench.”

That’s right, a neighborhood cat was able to break in through the magnetically locked cat door. They then watched it steal the fish food right from their home!

The Spooner’s are looking to find the cat’s owner in order to prevent any future crime sprees. However, they haven’t had any luck yet.

If you’re looking for your cat in Auckland, check in with the Spooners. Because your cat may be the thief! To prevent future cat burglar entries in your home, make sure that your animal doors are secure! If you don’t, you may find yourself in the sights
