Ladies and gentlemen, it’s official, Walt Disney’s Frozen 2 is a smash hit success.
As expected, the sequel to the 2013’s “Frozen” opened in the United States and worldwide with a massive box office haul.
Starring Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad, Walt Disney’s Frozen 2 secured an excellent $127 million at the box office in the United States. It was even better for the Jennifer Lee/Chris Buck directed movie overseas. Frozen II managed a record-breaking $350 million launch globally.
The movie also helped the movie industry move past several months where revenue has been slow. Over the last weekend, Frozen 2 smashed the worldwide record for the opening of an animated film.

China’s growing influence on the global box office was in evidence again. Walt Disney’s Frozen II grabbed a $55 million launch in China and the movie is already on course to surpass the first Frozen’s $876 overseas total.
