by Luke Jones on

Fans are asking what’s happening to PewDiePie following his decision to leave YouTube and Twitter.

Internet superstar PewDiePie shocked fans last week by quitting YouTube. Furthermore, the Swedish influencer has now revealed he is also stepping back from Twitter.

PewDiePie (real name Felix Kjellberg) dropped a bomb when he announced a break from YouTube. Since that shocking reveal, he returned this week and wiped his entire Twitter account.

In addition, he started a new Twitter account. However, this new account was to ensure no-one else can claim the @pewdiepie name.

What’s Happening to PewDiePie

Following his decision to take a break from YouTube during 2020, many fans have wondered what’s wrong with PewDiePie. Importantly, the star says he is simply tired and taking a year out to re-energize.

‘I am a taking a break from YouTube next year. I wanted to say it in advance because I made up my mind. I’m tired. I’m feeling very tired, I don’t know if you can tell. Just so you know, early next year I’ll be away for a little while. I’ll explain later but I wanted to give a heads-up.’

Furthermore, in another video titles “I hate Twitter”, Felix explained he does not like the social media network’s rewarding of virtue signaling.

“I hate Twitter, I think about deleting mine all the time. What I don’t like is the constant posturing that goes on there. People just can’t seem to help themselves from pointing out what is good, and what is bad, and how others are bad and how you are good.

“To the point where it almost becomes fiction where you satisfy this need. You get rewarded for saying things that make you seem virtuous, rather than acting on it”

“‘It explains why the site has become such a cesspool of opinions, and how, more often than not, those that boast about being virtuous often through hiding are not. There are so many YouTubers I could call out.”

PewDiePie is the most subscribed individual on YouTube and has made an estimated $30 million from his videos. It will be interesting to see how many of his 102 million subscribers return to his content when he comes back from his break.
