Welcome to Australia! Where the summer sun shines on the holiday season, and people find giant snakes in their Christmas trees! All in all, it was a python holiday surprise.
That’s right… When Leanne Chapman, who lives in Brisbane, came home from work, she noticed something strange on her balcony. Her and her partner saw the outdoor activity and decided to investigate. Birds were apparently going crazy for some reason!
“We came home from work and there’s a couple of butcher birds that visit everyday and they were just kicking off on the balcony, going crazy,” Chapman told a local news agency.
Finding Out the Cause
She then said her and her partner went out to video the birds. It wasn’t until they were extremely close that they saw what was causing such a commotion. Not only are eels causing chaos, but snakes too!
That’s when they noticed the GIANT, ten-foot long python wrapped around their outside Christmas tree!
It’s not often you come home to find a ten-foot long reptile hiding in your holiday decorations! However, you never know in Australia!
Chapman said, “it was a bit of a shock to begin with, you don’t really expect to see a snake in your Christmas tree!”
The couple then went inside where they watched the python from the window! It was a fascinating scene to watch.
Watching the Holiday Python
After spending the evening in their decorations, the snake finally decided to slither away around 10:30pm. The shock was alarming. However, Chapman said, “it was big, really big.” But she also stated that the python was “really beautiful”.
“It was actually quite nice to see it that close because I’ve never seen anything like it before!”
Next time you notice something moving in your outdoor patio tree, it may surprise you. As for this Australian couple, perhaps next year they will think twice before putting up their holiday décor on their balcony!
